God's work in the world. Many come to our Chapel because of being broken in spirit, crushed or suffering for various reasons. Most find hope and the grace to rekindle a spiritual life in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Come join us for evening prayer (Vespers) each day of the week at 5:30pm.

OUR COMMUNITY

As a New Catholic Community, we are members of the Holy Catholic and Apostolic family of churches and members of the Eastern Orthodox Church.  Our community is committed to working together for the unity of the Eastern and the Western churches.  Our Archbishop, Metropolitan Nicholas before his passing in 2006 was dedicated to working for this unity. Bishop John Joseph Reid and Fr. Lawrence Turner continue to keep Archbishop Metropolitan Nicholas' dream alive.

OUR MISSION

Image

Our part in doing God's work in the world is ministering to the sick and infirmed at three elderly care assisted living facilities.  We visit the elderly and sick, those who have been abandoned, pray with them and when needed we provide last rites. We also baptize children/adults, officiate at weddings (locations of your choice) and bless holy unions. We also officiate at funerals and memorials services as well as provide spiritual support to those in 12 step programs.

Lastly, we feed the homeless and provide spiritual comfort to the homeless living on the streets of Fort Lauderdale, FL. You are invited to join us on Wednesdays and Thursdays by helping to prepare food each Wednesday evening and/or directly serving the poor on Thursdays.  Contact us at 954-567-1930 to donate cookie packs, bananas, water bottles, socks, t-shirts and we are also in need of men and women's clothing.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Would like prayer for a special intention?  You can ask our community to pray for you by calling or stopping by or by responding at this website.  By-the-way, the Fathers of Divine Mercy desire you prayers for us to expand our works of charity, please pray for us too!

CURRENT NEWS

July 2008

We are seeing a dramatic growth in our Feed the Homeless Progam.   Every Thursday we are feeding up to 70 people, an increase from 160 to 240 in a month.  .  With more volunteers coming forward we are contemplating expanding the program to twice a week.   Meanwhile on the homefront we have undertaken a "Build Church" program to increase our attendance with the future goal of obtaining bigger space in order to accomodate more members.

April 2008

A typical month for our community, April of 2008, we saw three baptisms, one wedding, one memorial service, three last rites, four sick calls, and an increase from 20 to 40 in our food-on-the-streets homeless ministry.  We served approximately 160 meals in the month.

Homeless Thanksgiving
We send out thanks to the many volunteers who joined us with donations, their time and hands-on food delivery.  Many thanks for the socks, shoes, and clothing.  At one time, Thanksgiving came only once a year, but now, thanks to you, our supporters, we now bring Thanksgiving each week, each and every Thursday to the homeless of our community.

Miracles
Recently, we saw four people come back to God after having been away from their faith for a long time. They are seeing the love of God in action.  In one situation, we prayed with the residents of one of the assisted living facilities for a woman whose son for many years, in anger, walked away from her.  Just this last week this son reappeared and out of nowhere looking for his mother and healing has begun to take place. Miracles are happening!  There is so much going on, little miracles in all our lives. We really understand now the depth of God's love for us.

Donations
Help feed the homeless!  Father Larry and Father John Joseph appreciate your support of this important outreach.  Contributions are needed to help us continue our mission to the poor. You can mail your check to us, Fathers of Divine Mercy, 2749 NE 10th Ave., Wilton Manors, Fl. 33334 or use our Pay Pal button here on the front page of our web site.  Questions?  Please contact Fr. Larry at 954-567-1930.

Assisted Living Center Masses
Come join us in passing along love and support to our elderly. The updated schedule for Masses at the Assisted Living Centers is as follows:  Sunday, 2 PM, Independence Hall, Mondays 10:30 AM Williamsburg Landing, 2:30 PM Manor Pines. You are welcome to attend Mass at all three assisted living centers.  Father John Joseph, 954-567-1930 will be happy to give you location directions.

Adopt a Grand Parent Program
Volunteers are needed!  This program is sponsored by the Fathers of Divine Mercy. The program involves adopting either a grandmother or grandfather at one of the assisted living facilities.  You can visit with your chosen grandparent,  talk with them and let them know that you, one special person cares for them. Call Father John Joseph 954-567-1930 so he can tell you more about this very rewarding and needed program.

Candles
Light a Candle is now up and running on this site.  Please visit and light a candle for your intentions. You can also now send encouraging Ecards, check out the Ecard section.

Thank You Note
Cheryl Salemme sat down and instructed us on how to create an email address book and send out emails to those who wish to be in touch with our community and our ministries.  Thank you Cheryl.  We are now building the address book and many of you will be hearing from us from time to time.

Vocations
We are actively seeking individuals to become priests and brothers in our community and to join hands as our mission expands.

We invite those priests and/or religious who are no longer active in their communities for whatever reason, to talk with us about helping us here to grow the mission of New Divine Mercy.  We would like to offer you the opportunity to once again to share your love for Christ within a warm, nurturing and accepting community.  Come, talk with us!
